Syracuse School of Architecture
Syracuse University is always interested in gifted students and believes that the school of architecture should represent the full range of talent that exists in our country. Syracuse University has scholarships up to the amount of full tuition for the five-year professional undergraduate degree. About 80 percent of all admitted students receive financial aid, which comes in the form of scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study opportunities.
Scholarships are awarded to United States students with the greatest potential based on their application and their portfolio submission, (see below for guidelines).
√ Application
All students must go through the University’s Admissions (http://admissions.syr.edu/) process as well as the School of Architecture’s requirement of submitting a portfolio.
√ Portfolio Submission
A portfolio must be submitted for your application to be considered. Samples of freehand drawing are required. In addition to drawings, you may include a variety of work for your portfolio choosing from media such as painting, sculpture, graphics, art photography, woodworking, ceramics, or any other visual media that demonstrate your interest, experience, and aptitude in creative and graphic areas. Please do not include original work. Reproductions should be high-quality photographs (minimum 3 x 5 inches) or photocopies. Slides and/or CD’s are not accepted.
√ Upon submission of the application you must mail your portfolio to:

- Clearly indicate your name on the outside of the portfolio.
- Place your work in a flat binder no larger than 10 x 13 inches.
- Include a cover page that speaks about you, your interest in architecture, and your aspirations.
- Label each portfolio item with
- information about the medium used
- whether the project was done on your own or in class
- original size
- Please add a one to two sentence comment about each piece you submit
Portfolios will be returned at the beginning of the next academic year, if you include a stamped, self-addressed envelope or mailing packet.
